Hailyo vs Apollo, rule by rule.
Apollo is a big contact database with sequences on top. Hailyo is smaller on purpose: fewer, checked leads, sent slowly from your own mailboxes. Here's how the rules differ, with Apollo's side quoted from its own pages.

Is Hailyo an Apollo alternative?
For founders who send their own cold email, yes. Hailyo replaces Apollo's search, verification and sequences, but finds leads on the live web instead of a database, verifies each one before you pay for it, replaces verified leads that hard-bounce on their first send, and sends slowly from your own mailboxes. It has no phone dialer and no built-in contact database. See the bounce terms and how it works.
| Rule | Apollo (their words, summarised) | Hailyo |
|---|---|---|
| Unused allowance | Apollo:Credits reset each billing cycle and don't roll over, including purchased add-on credits. source | Hailyo:Plan leads last 2 billing cycles (balance capped at 3× your monthly leads). Leads you found are yours to export forever. |
| Buying more | Apollo:Add-on credits are charged immediately and renew automatically each cycle until you remove them. source | Hailyo:Lead packs are one-time purchases that last 12 months. Nothing renews unless it's your plan. |
| Downgrading | Apollo:Downgrades take effect immediately, with no refund for unused time. source | Hailyo:Downgrades take effect at the end of the period you paid for. You keep the leads you have. |
| Seats | Apollo:Priced per seat; every seat on an account is on the same plan. source | Hailyo:Seats are included: 1 on Starter, 3 on Growth. No seat minimums. |
| Warmup and mailboxes | Apollo:Credits are used for things like email warmup and domains & mailboxes. source | Hailyo:No warmup network. A slow ramp with real emails, six pre-send checks and blocklist monitoring are included in every plan. |
| Bounce protection | Apollo:By default, bounce guard flags sending for review at a 4% bounce rate and pauses it at 6%, counted once 200 emails have gone out in the past 7 days. Teams can change these limits. source | Hailyo:Every email is checked before it sends. Sequences pause at 2% hard bounces, mailboxes at 3% (min. 200 sends). |
| When a verified email bounces | Apollo:Not covered on the pages we checked. | Hailyo:A Hailyo-verified lead that hard-bounces on its first send is replaced with a new lead (up to 10% of monthly leads). |
| Where leads come from | Apollo:Apollo's contact database. source | Hailyo:The live web, searched when you ask, with the quote and page that qualified each lead. |

- · Duplicates and do-not-contact entries removed on import
- · Valid, risky, invalid and catch-all counts, with the bad rows exportable
- · Imported leads don't use your lead balance
